Cinema ticket

This movie is absolutely hilarious, I remember watching Steve Coogan as Alan Partridge when I was a kid and this movie just looked quite funny, and by god it was.

The story is mainly North Norfolk Digital is being bought in a takeover and rebranded for a younger audience, and the older DJ's are up to be fired. To save his job Alan tells the execs to sack his friend Pat. This then leads to an enraged Pat taken the radio station hostage.

Now the theme is not one that you would imagine to be hilarious in any way but Coogan does it, he has you rolling in the aisles and the part that will always make me giggle is the Geordie in the cupboard (people who have seen this will know what I mean). The movie was full of one liners from start to finish.

Overall a great British comedy and worth a watch.

Frankenweenie (PG)

Starring: Charlie Tahan, Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara, Martin Short.

The film revolves around Victor who is a young boy who's only friend is his pet dog Sparky, Victor's parents want Victor to make friends his own age and his father enrolls him onto the baseball team, while hitting a home-run, Sparky runs after the ball and gets knocked down.
The film was good in places and the plot easily flowed, I found that I loved spotting the old movie references relating to the old Boris Karloff movies.
This is Frankenstein for children, and it has been transferred very well, all the old elements are still there but they have been toned down. Even though this is aimed at children, adults will still like it. I found it to be heartfelt with Sparky being a great character, I loved the interaction between Sparky and Persephone the poodle.

Overall a good movie, if you like Tim Burton go and see it.

Tower Block (15)

Dir: James Nunn, Ronnie Thompson
Starring: Sheridan Smith, Russell Tovey, Jack O'Connell, Julie Graham, Montserrat Lombard.

The film revolves around the residents of the top floor of a tower block that is due for demolition, the start of the movie sees the brutal murder of a young teen in the corridor, and all the residents locking their doors and turning a blind eye. One resident leaves her flat and tries to help the young teen but gets beaten up for her trouble.
One morning a sniper starts shooting into the tower block killing residents and injuring others, the residents take cover in the hallway on the top floor and try to escape.

The premise of the movie is sound and is quite believable, tower blocks are seen as a breeding ground for violence, and people are scared of reprisal if they try to stop something. I found myself jumping out of my seat when the first shots broke out, as they came so unexpected. I found the movie to be quite unpredictable, with some movies you can guess who is going to wind up a victim, but a lot of the sequences came as an absolute surprise as well as some of the booby traps which I never expected.

The film (even though it is good) is slow to start at the beginning, as you are shown the seperate stories of each of the residents, and because there is quite an ensemble cast you do forget who is who.

Overall a great British movie, and I would recommend it if you like a whodunit.

My Week #25

Here is my week #25:

Monday

On Monday and Tuesday I was off work ill, I had a chesty cough (that my mum decided she wanted to share with me), so spent most of Monday and Tues in bed catching up on TV and watching movies.

I'm finding that having these blog plans during the week helps push me to blog, so I'm gonna keep these up.

Tues + Wed

Wednesday, I was back at work, which was manic, we also had a form to send off recorded delivery. We managed to get to the cinema to see The Iceman starring Michael Shannon, Winona Ryder, and Chris Evans (review coming soon).

Tuesday, I was off ill and as you can see I caught up with some movies and some TV

Thurs to Sunday

Thursday was quiet, but I ended up going to the docs on Friday as I still had my cough. My parents went to London for the weekend so me and my partner had the house to ourselves so just vegged out infront of the tv.

Teesside Park 19.06.2013

We went to the cinema to see The Iceman starring Michael Shannon, Winona Ryder, and Chris Evans, so while we were over at Teeside Park I thought I would have a little look in Staples and Hobbycraft if i was lucky.

Staples Haul

 I didn't really buy that much from Staples this time due to the fact that it's near the end of the month, but the coloured notebook was only 70p and the stickies I use to mark down when I've started a new book, and the clips I use a lot at work so must haves basically.

Hobbycraft Papers

I saw these papers in Hobbycraft and thought that they would make excellent dividers in Jack and Violet (and Saffy (purple Saffiano) if I can get her next month

Hobbycraft Sale

Hobbycraft were also having a sale on some clearance items so I managed to get some stickers, stamps and some gorjuss notelets for under a tenner.

Movie: The Purge

Starring: Ethan Hawke, Lena Headey

Movie Ticket

This movie was really good very brutal in places and emotional.

I found myself crying during the film, Ethan Hawke was fantastic in the film and all I can say for Lena Hedey no-one messes with the queen.

The movie at times was predictable you knew from the beginning that something was up and that you knew what was going to happen.

Barring the predictability and the brutality of the film it was still good.
